Yacht sculptures:

A passion for sailing and an understanding of boat dynamics and sail trim has inspired Ninx to express this in her sculpture.

Bronze* is Ninx’s chosen medium as she feels this reflects the classic elegance of yacht racing. The bronze also enables Ninx to create sculptures of varying sizes from desk ornaments and trophies to large outdoor installations that acquire a unique patination out in the elements.

Sculptures are first created in clay or wax and can be worked to boat builder’s and sail maker’s diagrams, scaled down, to create the exact dimensions of the hull and sails being portrayed. Ninx then simplifies and stylises the sculpture to create aesthetically pleasing, smooth, clean lines.

Each of these sculptures, once cast, are smoothed and then engraved with sail maker’s lines, sail numbers and boat names. All are entirely unique.

The final stage is the patination and mounting of the sculpture.  Solid mahogany bases are custom made for each piece and in the case of trophies any depth can be chosen in order to make room for title and winner plaques.  Plaques can be ordered in stainless steel or brass and are carefully nailed, rather then glued, in place so they can be removed to add future winners' names.

* Bronze resin copies can also be created for winners to keep.
